About Us.
United for Marine Safety in the SW.
Naturaliste Volunteer Marine Rescue Inc. is the maritime emergency response unit for the Cape Naturaliste region of South Western Australia. We cover an area that extends from Moses Rock to Siesta Park, and includes the waters of Geographe Bay, Flinders Bay, and the surrounding coastline.
We are a tight-knit team of dedicated and experienced volunteers who are committed to keeping our local waterways safe. Funded by both the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) and donations from the local community, we maintain three rescue vessels and their auxiliary equipment at a high state of readiness. Our team includes skippers, crew members, and support staff who are all passionate about helping others and preserving our local marine environment.
We have a proven track record of responding quickly and efficiently to maritime emergencies, including search and rescue missions, marine fires, and vessel collisions. Our unit has taken part in multiple searches for missing boaters and fishermen and is often employed in the search and recovery of overdue or distressed boats in our area of coverage.
At Naturaliste Volunteer Marine Rescue, we work closely with other emergency services, including the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) and the West Australian Police Force (WAPOL) to ensure that we are always prepared to respond to any situation. We are committed to providing a safe and reliable service to our community and are proud to serve the Cape Naturaliste region.
We are also dedicated to educating the public on safe boating practices and regularly conduct training and awareness sessions for both adults and children. Our volunteers have undergone extensive training in marine rescue techniques, navigation, and vessel handling, and are well-equipped to handle any emergency situation.
Whether you are a recreational boater or a commercial vessel operator, Naturaliste Volunteer Marine Rescue is here to help in case of an emergency. Contact us today to learn more about our services, or to make a donation to support our vital work.
